2. Of Mice and Men Notes:
A. Setting: Salinas, CA area in the 1920s-1930s, most likely during the Great Depression era. Setting has details from Steinbeck's childhood hometown: Salinas River, Gabilan Mountains, Soledad, and rich details from nature.
B. Each chapter begins with a description of the setting. This way the novel can be easily adapted into a play. The novel is rich in description of setting, dialogue between characters, and action.
C. The novel spans from a Thursday evening to Sunday afternoon.
