Poetry Review:
1. Review differences between free verse and metrical poetry.
Review rhyme scheme(ABCB, ABAB, etc) and form by analyzing poems and stanzas.
Handouts :
1) "Elements of Poetry/"What is Poetry?" , and
2) "Narrative Poetry" / "The Wilderness Tamed."
2. Review alliteration and onomatopoeia with handout. (except Per. 1)
Homework: Complete handouts.Note: Please ask for handouts if absent.

1. Introduction to Poetry: Review of "Glossary of Poetry Terms" handout:
Alliteration, assonance, couplet, diction, free verse, imagery, and lyrical poetry, annotating important concepts and using pneumonic devices and key words to identify each.
2. Read handout on Rhythm and Meter. Discussed the iamb as a metrical foot, the most common in the English language. Read examples of poems with formal and casual diction, imagery, and free verse.
Per. 4: Checked Voc. Lesson 9: "Economics" for homework grade. Quiz tomorrow.
Per. 1: Will check Voc. Lesson 9 tomorrow and review for quiz tomorrow.

Completion and graded lesson will be homework grade.
2. Complete reading of Othello ACT IV (4).
Discuss characterization of Othello with Lodovico as a foil. Discuss characterization of Desdemona as the "good angel" and Shakespeare's use of dramatic irony through Emilia.
3. View Othello film version of today's reading.
